From the 2000 US Census:
There are 23,664,727 "normal" household in the US which is a Householder + Spouse + Natural Child.
There are 338,235 households in the US with Householder + Spouse + Natural + Parent.
So it's about 1.4% of the "normal" households. Or about 1 in 66 parents you meet live with a parent. Seems normal to me!
More common is actually to have a grandchild living with you, there are 376,494 of those.
